Prior to Columbia, John attended high school at the Dunn School in Santa Ynez, CA. A fun fact is that prior to his senior year of high school, John played only middle infield, shifting to the outfield to take advantage of his speed and athleticism. As a senior at Dunn, John batted .506 with 22 stolen bases and 43 runs scored to rank among the state leaders. As a junior, John hit .551 with 24 stolen bases. John was also a captain of the basketball team at Dunn, averaging 29 PPG as a junior. John was recruited to play basketball at the collegiate level as well.
In addition to coaching, John is employed as a Legal and Business Development Analyst in La Jolla at a publicly traded Biotech company. “It has been a blessing to see the things that I learned as a collegiate athlete transfer over to the business world,” says San Jule. “I am thrilled to be joining the program not just as a coach, but as a mentor to kids who have the same dreams I did not too long ago.”
